Eight Tech Consults, contracted by Cyber School Technology Solutions under the Mastercard Foundation’s Uganda e-Learning Initiative, delivered virtual training in digital pedagogy, instructional design, and content digitization for instructors in 7 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The project aims to improve access to quality, relevant education and build workforce readiness skills among youth by empowering instructors to leverage digital technologies for teaching, learning, and research.
The overall objective of the assignment was to develop training material and facilitate training of 976 instructors in digital pedagogy, instructional design, content development, and online acquisition in 7 Higher Education Institutions, to improve the quality of learning and build workforce readiness skills.
The specific objectives included:
- Build capacity of instructors to deliver high quality teaching and learning materials online.
- Enable instructors to develop and author content and upload it onto their respective institutional Learning Management Systems (LMS) as part of a continuous capacity development process.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the training conducted, using results to inform improvements for scaling to 21 institutions in the next phase.
- Identify and mentor 10 change agents/champions from each participating institution for a period of 6 months to drive sustainable adoption of digital pedagogy.
Tasks completed
- Designed and developed training materials on digital pedagogy and instructional design.
- Conducted virtual training sessions for instructors from 7 HEIs between October and December 2023.
- Delivered hands-on sessions on content authoring tools (e.g., eXe, Articulate, Hot Potatoes, Miro, Infographics) and uploading content to LMS platforms.
- Facilitated continuous assessment through quizzes, assignments, and case studies.
- Collected and analyzed participant feedback and evaluation data.
- Identified and documented change agents/champions in each institution.
- Compiled and submitted a comprehensive training report with recommendations and lessons learned
