Scope: 

Eight Tech Consults was contracted by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) and Ministry of Education and Sports to review and update Uganda’s ICT Competency Framework for Teachers (CFT). Eight Tech Consults was tasked to prepare an inception report, conduct literature review, draft the updated ICT CFT, facilitate a validation workshop with stakeholders and deliver the final validated framework and research report. 

OVERALL OBJECTIVE

  • To ensure all Ugandan teachers acquire minimum ICT competencies for effective integration of technology in teaching and learning.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

  • Update the ICT CFT to align with the National Digital Skills Framework
  • Integrate the new competency-based curriculum requirements, ensuring digital skills support modern teaching methodologies
  • Incorporate international best practices from UNESCO’s ICT CFT and DigiComp 2.2 to enhance teacher digital competencies
  • Digitize the framework and make it accessible on the MoES website

Output

  • Inception report 
  • Conducted a comprehensive review of relevant international and national ICT competency frameworks, including UNESCO ICT CFT and DigiComp 2.2
  • Facilitated a stakeholder validation workshop
