Stakeholder Validation Workshop for Data Protection and Privacy Curriculum.

On 30TH July, Eight Tech Consults, in partnership with the Financial Sector Deepening Uganda (FSD Uganda), presented the newly designed Data Protection and Privacy Curriculum at a stakeholder validation workshop.

This important event, held at Four Points by Sheraton, gathered a diverse group of stakeholders to review and provide feedback on the curriculum before its final rollout.

The curriculum, commissioned by the Personal Data Protection Office (PDPO), aims to equip professionals with comprehensive knowledge and skills in data protection and privacy.

It addresses the increasing importance of safeguarding personal data in today’s digital age, aligning with both national and international standards, including Uganda’s Data Protection and Privacy Act 2019 and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

During the workshop, participants, including representatives from various sectors, were given a detailed presentation of the curriculum’s objectives, structure, and content.

The stakeholders engaged in discussions, shared insights, and provided valuable feedback to refine and enhance the curriculum. This collaborative effort ensures that the training program meets the needs and expectations of those responsible for data protection and privacy within their organizations.

Eight Tech Consults, known for their expertise in ICT consultancy and training, emphasized the practical aspects of the curriculum. It includes interactive lectures, case studies, and practical exercises designed to empower participants with the ability to navigate complex data protection challenges effectively.

The feedback collected from the workshop will be incorporated into the final version of the curriculum, ensuring it is robust, relevant, and ready for implementation. The successful rollout of this training program is expected to significantly contribute to the development of data protection professionals in Uganda, fostering a culture of privacy and security in the digital landscape.

Eight Tech Consults, along with PDPO and FSD Uganda, remains committed to supporting the continuous improvement and effectiveness of data protection training in Uganda, ensuring that organizations are well-equipped to protect personal data and uphold privacy rights.
